Loving friends

She likes to curl up on that comfy chair
And look at me with very sleepy eyes
I love it when she’s sitting over there
And giggling or sighing little sighs

We do not need to chat to get along
Just sit and know the other’s in the room
A friendly word when things are going wrong
A smile you know will always lift the gloom

The first to read each verse and give the nod
A comment that is always true but kind
I’ve never thought this way to love is odd
Although she’s only here inside my mind

It helps to know that you’ve a loving friend
Who’s in between “for real” and “let’s pretend”
