A beachwear designer named Madeleine King
Made all her bikinis from very thin string;
Three scraps of bright fabric, like undersized stamps,
That weren’t quite opaque to the dimmest of lamps.

Three cheers for Madeleine King!

Her sister Ophelia was tall, slim and blonde,
Yet boasted the curves of which most men are fond;
She modelled the swimsuits without any qualms
And smiled at the crowds sat admiring her charms.

The papers sent cameras to all of their shows,
Bold beauties catch readers as everyone knows.
With “Phew What a Scorcher”, the headline above
Their pictures had many men falling in love.

The magazine editors rained down their praise,
The in-crowd sent orders for suits to “catch rays”,
Though sometimes a husband would baulk at the price
Once these suits were modelled they didn’t moan twice!

Three cheers for Madeleine King!

In Copacabana eyes popped out on stalks
And jaws hit the floor when the girls went on walks!
In Madeleine’s finest no tanning is missed,
The only white line is around her left wrist.

Three cheers for Madeleine King!

At last it’s the winter, not the time for the beach
And tanned and uncovered seems far out of reach,
Ophelia and Madeleine bathe in their cash,
How can things so small have raised so large a splash?

Three cheers for Madeleine King
