Magic words

I’m just a fool too set in foolish ways
Unbendingly creating silly scenes
I concentrate on words a lady says
But do not hear the thoughts the lady means
Not everyone can see the way to coax
Persuasion is an art you have to learn
But all my indignation is a hoax
A lovely gift is not one I shall spurn
So I’ll apologise I made my point
No need to be a stubborn haughty man
Who cares my nose was slightly out of joint
I ought to give a little when I can
It’s easy though to put me at my ease
It doesn’t hurt to start by saying please.
