Sweet Cupid sets his aim upon a Grace
To celebrate the joy that Spring has brought
While Venus waits for Mercury to chase
The dragons from the field wherein they fought
The Goddess of the Spring is spreading flowers
As Zephyrus makes Chloris blush for Shame
The artist shows the depths of Nature’s powers
And with his noble patrons plays a game
Five hundreds years have passed since paint was wet
The colours now more subtle than when new
Yet still admirers wait without regret
A masterpiece will always draw a queue
An allegory of a Christian theme
Or maybe just the painting of a dream?
