Midnight Rose

The snow fell slow and gently through the day
And brought a chilly glowing to your nose
I gazed into your eyes and had to say
You’re perfect as a blooming midnight rose

Amidst the thorns your beauty stands alone
So little else that’s lovely ever shows
But in a place of wreckage there has grown
A single sweet and perfect midnight rose

Some days the sun can’t find your pretty face
And then the World seems lost in endless woes
The shadows split and you are back in place
To blaze throughout the night, my midnight rose

So sweet and unexpected I suppose
No bloom can ever match that midnight rose
