Monochrome in mind

A balmy sky with one half-hearted cloud,
And gentle breezes filled with summer flowers.
Forget-me-nots are gathered in a crowd,
To watch as lovers walk away the hours.

The beach scene painted by a five year old,
Both sky and sea are coloured just the same,
The sand and sun a single shade of gold,
The towels and beds like counters in a game.

While teenage hearts are beating in the dunes
And Muddy Water’s music fades away.
My heart is filled with melancholy tunes
Denying me the pleasures of the day.

So many things are painted in the hue
That names my mood when I’m apart from you.

Author notes
I’m still not happy with this sonnet this was the original third stanza

Some teenage pairs are hidden in the dunes,
Rehearsing games their parents used to play.
A radio plays Muddy Waters’ tunes,
Reflecting how I feel about the day.
