Moods

When melancholy sweeps across your mind
It’s hard to rise to all you have to do
Excuses for your sloth aren’t hard to find
But you’re the one you have to sell them to
You try to shake and summon up a smile
To show the world that all will be OK
Instead you sit in silence for a while
And dream away the closing of the day
I know I’ll be as right as rain again
But knowledge and belief are not in tune
I start to moan but better to refrain
There is no gain in howling at the moon
All things must pass including feeling sad
It’s not as though my life is all that bad
