She lies on the dock and she looks at the ships
And over her body her lover’s eye slips
While the Moon in the sky looks on down

She lies in my gaze and she dreams of her ships
While over her body my lover’s eye slips
And the Moon in the sky doesn’t frown

The ships in her dreams visit far foreign lands
And the girl on the dock feels so warm in my hands
So the Moon that I see has a smile

She dreams that the ships are all laden with love
And I dream that I see the stars fall from above
Now the Moon is bemused for a while

I dream of my dreamer who dreams of her ships
While into my dreaming another thought slips
That the Moon is the same for us two

I dream I am sailing to where she is laying
To see if her dreaming includes what I’m saying
And I’m dreaming the Moon just for you

The dock in my dreams and the ships on her sea
Are part of the story that’s real as can be
And the Moon doesn’t worry above

The girl I am dreaming, the ships as they’re steaming
In the images teaming the starlight that’s streaming
And the moon is the symbol of love
