More Weather Woes

An Englishman’s umbrella’s emblematic
He’s naked if it isn’t by his side
But in a gale this symbol’s problematic
If opened it would take him on a ride
He feels a jerk the moment it’s inverted
You’ll see him spin to try to face the breeze
Another gust, his treasure is converted
To modern art that decorates the trees
When storms arrive we Englishmen feel bitter
Our little roofs stay furled or put away
It’s better to be labelled as a quitter
Than buy a new umbrella everyday
So when the winds are boist’rously extreme
A dry and tidy Englishman’s a dream
Author notes
I wrote a poem about getting wet in the rain and was accused of unpatriotic
behaviour
