My love

I love a girl with perfect style
A pleasing teasing ready wit
The cook that makes my taste buds smile
Her loving heart’s the best of it

A pleasing teasing ready wit
A smile for all the woes I feel
Her giggles have me in a fit
A laugh can blunt the sharpest steel

The cook that makes my taste buds smile
She knows the way to warm my soul
A Michelin meal that will beguile
Or comfort food that must console

Her loving heart’s the best of it
Her kiss is all a man desires
She’ll douse the lights and I’ll submit
To lose my all within her fires

Author notes
A retourne on the prompt “Attributes”

The retourne is a traditional French form, as such it was bound to involve
repetition and it does the first of the four quatrains contains the first lines
of each quatrain. They do not have to rhyme although I have chosen to rhyme
mine abab bcbc adad bebe. In the French language meter is very weak and so
French poetry is usually syllabic rather than metrical, 8 syllables to a line
here, I have chosen to achieve that with iambic tetrameter.
