No easy life

It can be rather chilly when you’re waiting for a bite,
You can’t afford to shiver or they’ll fly away in fright.
So I will have to sit until a victim comes in sight;
It’s not a an easy life to be a bear.
I’d really like a cuddle and a snuggle in the warm,
For buns and sticky honey I am happy to perform
But I am sitting waiting in a dreadful winter storm.
It’s not a an easy life to be a bear.
In Summer I can bask beneath a sleep inducing sun
And every single action seems to be a source of fun
But freezing in these branches isn’t fun for anyone;
It’s not a an easy life to be a bear.
Perhaps a little squirrel will come searching for his nuts –
To stave off pangs of hunger in his tiny rumbling guts,
Then I will pounce and eat him and there’ll be no ifs and buts;
It’s not a an easy life to be a bear.
A better fate by far would be if you would wander by;
You’d look up in the branches and you’d catch me by the eye,
Then pick me up and take me home to where I know you’d try
To give an easy life to me, a bear!
