No poetry?

No poetry?

I saw the shapes of ghosts against the sky
That summer night when we were first in love
And now alone the same sad spectres fly
Across the velvet blanket stretched above

The roses bloomed and filled the perfumed air
When she and I were lost inside a dream
And still today the scent is everywhere
Though love is not the answer it may seem

I pledged my heart for ever and a day
When we were first together and alone
How could the years have taken love away
I thought that was one treasure I could own

But I will still believe that love’s for me
Without that hope there is no poetry
