As indolence arrives quite unannounced
I’m left considering the need to write
I’d started on a verse when torpor pounced
Will other inspiration strike tonight?
My muse tells me that rest is overdue
Why put out all the effort to compose
He can’t be bothered taking points of view
And who would chose to write above a doze
Perhaps a sonnet’s not a lot to ask
However much this laziness appeals
I’ll give another minute to the task
Before I see how mute inaction feels
To type this took a lot of energy
I far prefer a bit of lethargy
