It doesn’t take a moment from your day
To stop and look at other people’s lives
The troubles that they meet along the way
The smiles they’re saving up for kids and wives
The train is filled by tales we cannot know
By people who have lives they put on hold
There has to be a way that I can show
We aren’t just here to have our talents sold
I asked one man just what his tears were for
He told me how one day had torn his life
He could not talk to Stephen any more
His son was stopped by anger and a knife
I left him on the train in gentle tears
One moment of my life will last for years

The train from Euston to Harrow takes 12 minutes and 30 seconds, I’ve seen him
since, and he almost always has his tears.
