Office work

On sunlit days the office hours are long
While gentle breezes wash across the trees
To tap away at keyboards must be wrong
When nature on the doorstep’s at her ease

The telephone brings problems to my door
And emails tell of woes from far away
I fix a group of faults and then find more
While through the window it’s a lovely day

I should be in a garden at your side
And painting scenes with words I chance to find
I’d capture you and all that spring’s supplied
With poetry and loving on your mind

I’m smiling now, I’ve still the time to dream
And love and life are nearer than they seem

Author notes
