On Nights Like This

On nights like this we’d cuddle up in bed,
And find, in dreams, a warm and sunny land.
The universe you’re painting in my head
Is built on hopes that we can understand.
Outside the snow has carpeted the town,
But in my bed the countryside is clear
The silver frosted jewels on autumn’s brown
Are turned to summer’s greens throughout the year.
What are your dreams, what worlds do you create
Please take my hand and lead me to the sights.
Then sit with me, drink brandy and debate
The merits of each set of sweet delights.
Now kiss my lips, take me to other dreams
On nights like this surrender to my schemes.
