To occupy one lazy afternoon
I thought what I could do for all mankind
I’m going to build my ladder to the Moon
There’s isn’t any doubt about the boon
Of walking into space when you’ve a mind
To occupy one lazy afternoon
I’ll gather what I need and start it soon
Materials should not be hard to find
I’m going to build my ladder to the Moon
I’ll rest the end upon a large pontoon
I wonder if it’s well enough designed
To occupy one lazy afternoon
I’m off to find a mega-rich tycoon
With hoards of cash just waiting to be mined
I’m going to build a ladder to the Moon
A friend has drawn my dream as a cartoon
And given me a copy neatly signed
