Painted sky

Today the sun is shining, there is also rain around
The birds don’t know to shelter or to fly
We get these two together and there’s beauty to be found
The colours of the rainbow paint the sky
I’m sitting by the telephone, for news that makes me wait
I worry as the news has been delayed
The only thing that’s keeping me from getting in a state
I’m gazing at the wonder that’s portrayed
I know about the physics and the wave nature of light
The theory has a beauty of its own
But it isn’t any science but the rainbow that’s in sight
That is helping me sit waiting for the phone
