I caught my breath and read the page again
The other words before I disbelieved
I steeled my heart to bear the certain pain
But it was true and I was so relieved
I read it once again to know the joy
That simple words can give a simple man
The commonest of phrases to employ
Has at a stroke abolished every plan
My future has been written in a line
Your future too if I can have my way
I’ve got to try to build to new design
The blueprint was created on that day
You gave my mind so many things to do
The moment that you sent me “I love you”
