Reading Poetry

A lovely Summer afternoon,
A large ice-cream, a daylight Moon
With blackbird’s song an added boon,
And reading poetry.

The dappled sunlight through the trees,
Whose leaves are playing with the breeze,
While I am sitting at my ease
And reading poetry.

A cup of tea and then some wine,
The strawberries are quite divine.
Please come and have a taste of mine
And read some poetry.

Too soon the day will start to fade
And other sights will be displayed,
Each garden is a masquerade
Of nature’s poetry.

The bees have buzzed back to their hive,
Before the summer stars arrive,
They make me glad that I’m alive
And reading poetry.
