Why would you write if you were not in love
It’s love that drives a poet to his pen
When inspiration strikes him from above
A poet is the luckiest of men

Or maybe it is just a love of words
That causes you to suffer in this way
Your writing’s just the twittering of birds
You love the sound but don’t know what to say

Philosophers may also try to write
For they believe they know the way to think
But what they write can be a dreadful sight
And drive their readers off to find a drink

For me there isn’t any subtle plan
I only write because I found I can!
Author notes
I am still working on the couplet, any suggestions gratefully received
