Reflecting on life

For fifty years this son of long dead stars
Has chased his dreams and dreamt his chase was won
He’s battled hard and bears his share of scars
But knows that overall his life is fun
Ten billion years his atoms walked alone
Or shared another body who can know
Together for the briefest span they’ve grown
The body known as Jeff is all their show
It doesn’t really matter what I think
Or what I choose to write for you to read
Before the Earth is poised upon the brink
Of death upon the altar of man’s greed
Have I another fifty years to go?
I wonder if that’s time enough to know.
