Resurrection

Resurrection

His phantom form appeared inside the smoke
That rose toward the ceiling of the hall
A hollow laugh that might have been a choke
Struck like a fist she felt so lost and small

The cherub she had been before he died
Was here bewildered quaking in her shoes
The river of the tears that she had cried
Became the key to all that she could lose

The crystal glass of burgundy now fell
And she herself fell prostrate at his feet
The violins played on to keep the spell
His quest to find his princess was complete

The freedom she had found was washed away
He’s back from Hell to claim his own today
