There are golden yellow roses in a vase beside the door
But the rose he leaves behind is finer still
Though she has three pretty daughters she’s the finest of the four
When it’s time for home he feels that special thrill
Of a lover when he’s certain that his lady will be there
When he’s home before the telly and he’s dozing off all care

There are golden yellow roses in a vase beside the bed
But the rose between the sheets is his to choose
As they settle into passion there’s a picture in his head
Of the prize he won that’s far too good to lose
Now he’s working in his garden so his roses always grow
Tending buds and brushing petals is a skill all lovers know
