Severus Snape was not a nice man
In the end he wasn’t a bad one
It wasn’t his conscience that turned him to good
I doubt that he knew that he had one

Lily he loved from the time that they met
Though she was as nice as can be
That she didn’t love was a blow to his heart
And plain for the others to see

But for his love he was bad to the bone
A disciple of dark over light
His master destroyed the Lily he loved
And Snape knew that couldn’t be right

So risking the ire of the worst that there was
He struggled to save Lily’s eyes
Though they were within a muggle raised head
That he wished all his life to despise

If it wasn’t for Snape then the fight was in vain
Though the good guys fought bravely and well
The dark one himself didn’t know one great truth
Love’s by far the most powerful spell!
Author notes
I have entered twice, my other entry was a tribute to Dobby in a highly
alliterative verse.
