In dreams I always see your silhouette against the Moon,
A shadow of perfection that must fade away too soon,
A waiting wisp of promise splashed across the silver light;
My dreams becoming mortal as I go to bed at night.

Your tender, tempting kisses take away the taste of day,
And leave me and the moonlight in a place I want to stay.
As I stand here at the window I can see the sprinkled stars,
As they shepherd other lovers lost in other Shangri-Las.

The pillow’s cool caresses are your lips against my cheek,
As wisps of night and romance make approaching darkness speak.
You are here to feel my breathing as I win my nightly race,
To achieve my own nirvana where I see your smiling face.

Too soon the heartless morning will arrive to break the spell,
Leaving me with warmth within me, and with tales I cannot tell.
Though I know I’ll keep your heartbeat far beyond the heat of noon,
When tonight I see your silvered silhouette against the Moon.
