Silver and Gold

Our rowan tree is dressed in gold and red
The apple trees are all in different browns
These autumn colours fill up every bed
The regal heads of nature need their crowns
But gold is just a metal here on earth
It’s beauty is a beauty you can touch
The truth is that such things have little worth
The one I love’s worth many times as much
In ghostly veils she smiles on winter nights
Mysterious to even those that know
The second of the heaven’s greatest lights
But hers will always be the sweeter show
Perfection is that silver lit balloon
Tonight I stand and marvel at the Moon
