Sitting next to Sunday

The lazy Summer days are here again
And balmy weather plays within my hair
No twists and twizzles that I must explain
Just lazy little pleasures I can share
Now weekend days are dancing up the street
And dressed in Sunday best and summer breeze
I love to watch the movement of their feet
And smile to see them waving at the trees
Then settle back relax and start to swing
And ask a special friend to sit by me
We haven’t got to do a single thing
But pour some tea and write some poetry
When Sunday sits beside you as you write
You know your words are certain to delight
Author notes
I first wrote a poem inspired by Dalaney a year ago, so here’s another.
