Snow by night

Snow by night

A single line of footprints follows me along the street
And turns to take the path up to my door
A cup of tea to warm me and some slippers for my feet
We don’t want snowy imprints on the floor

A snowman stood in silence outside number ninety two
The only sign that anyone was there
The blizzard that just ended left my street as something new
A gold flecked silver blanket everywhere

Inside I’m feeling nice and warm my tea mug in my hands
Outside the world is newly painted white
I’m looking through the window where the lonely snowman stands
With tea all gone I’ll bid my friend goodnight
