Some Day Soon

Someday, but not tomorrow, I shall decorate the room;
Someday, when I’m not busy, I shall mend the garden broom;
Someday, before I’m older, I shall tidy up the house
And finish all I’ve promised for my spouse.
Someday, if it’s not raining, I will run a dozen miles;
Someday, when it is warmer, I’ll replace the broken tiles;
Someday, perhaps next weekend, there is something I should do
And maybe I shall come and visit you.
Someday’s a day I’m fond of, it’s conveniently vague
But somedays are as dangerous as tigers or the plague.
Someday is just a codename for a day that’s never here
But someday I may change it to next year.
Today I’m very busy and tomorrow’s much the same
So if I do it “someday” then I’m really not to blame!
