Spring

To me she’s always been a day in spring
Embodying my hopes of future bliss
At any time a balmy mood may swing
To thunderclouds from Hades own abyss
She touched my heart so life could re-emerge
When I was sure no thaw could end the spell
Her warming sun has left me on the verge
Of resurrection from a living hell
And yet she sometimes flatters to condemn
A calming breeze can hide a biting gale
The sparkle on the beach may be a gem
Or shrapnel from some devastating hail
I’ll take her turns of March to early May
To earn another perfect Summer’s day
