Still fighting

A lovely rose lies silent in her bed
As cankers fight to to temper beauty’s reign
What battles have to rage inside her head
Before the rose can rise in bloom again
The Queen of Passion lies and does not stir
A casualty of life’s most viscious fight
What can her friends or lover do for her
To bring her back again into the light
This road she treads is treacherous and long
With twists and turns and potholes all the way
The Sweetest rose is often very strong
But is that strength enough to win today
A sonnet or a kiss may bring her back
From facing down the latest vile attack
