I’ve got a little steamboat for my bath
A copy of a vintage tinplate toy
It’s candle powered and chugs a curving path
That seems to lead to when I was a boy
A present from a friendly five year old
Who told his Mum and Dad it was for me
Far more than all the modern gadgets sold
This little toy displays our artistry
You won’t believe the smile that’s on my face
An unexpected gift makes any day
I’d give my teeth to venture into space
But days-gone-by can bear my heart away
So thank-you Jack my ever-growing friend
I’d say you found the perfect gift to send
