I’m sitting feeling pleased and full of tea
With Happy Birthday wishes in the air
A silver moon is shining down at me
And I’ve a bit of cake that I can share
I’ve had a drink that gave me quite a glow
And friends had sent their love from far away
All in all I’ve got a lot to show
To celebrate my rather special day
Now thanks to all the poets on the site
Who sent me greetings, some of you in rhyme
Though turning fifty could have been a fright
You’ve made it all a rather jolly time
So hurry up you youngsters grab some years
It isn’t quite as bad as all my fears
