Too long without a lover when you came to rescue me;
Left locked inside a prison till you came to set me free.
Now life is more eventful and my attitudes are changed,
When you are told you’re wonderful your life is rearranged.

I never thought I’d be the one to make you stop and smile
So when you said you loved me I was lost for quite a while.
I’m not sure I believe you but I know I want to try
It’s wonderful to think I put a gleam in someone’s eye.

So thank-you for the things you say, and thanks for being there.
You’ve given me tomorrow and a reason I should care.
I may not be the richest man my walls aren’t built of gold,
But since you said those words to me I’m not so bloody old!
