Thirty thousand feet

Six miles up suspended in a shining silver tube
Far above the chaos back on Earth
When I see that life is sweeter than a giant sugar cube
And the sky above shows what today is worth
Six miles up in safety on a road of wispy cloud
Far above disasters down below
There are treasures once forbidden that I’m suddenly allowed
In the sky where there are secrets I should know
Six miles down you see me, unafraid and with a smile
Far above the troubles of the day
I am left to find serenity and live for just a while
And the sky has put her terrors far away
It’s just six miles of empty air but in my heart I see
For the first time in so many years I’m six miles high, and free
