Thoughts on a spring morning

The days awake to soft unbroken blue
Where birds and silver aircraft play and fly,
No clouds conspire to bleach the perfect sky
So dirty roads and buildings shine as new.
I walk to work conducting a review
Of all the beauty that assaults the eye,
I make another unsuccessful try
To drag my dreams from dwelling just on you.
Allotments seem like open countryside
And gardens are a coloured patchwork quilt
Of every colour that our minds perceive.
It seems that nature will not be denied,
She beautifies what ever man has built
And I have dreams of you to interweave.
