Thunder at nighttime

The lightning flashed, like warfare in the night.
With thunderclaps the dead could not ignore.
Surrounded by that flashing eerie light,
There’s drumming as the rain begins to pour.

Ecstatic sounds of nature at it’s best,
With sights to dazzle any artist’s heart.
The music of the clouds just adds the zest,
I stand and watch yet cannot play a part.

But all around the world just seems to sleep
Ignoring what the skies can put on show.
I have a view so fine I want to weep
And those I love will never even know.

So close your eyes and dream you’re in my storm,
Wrapped in my arms where you are dry and warm.
