Today my daughter wrote a verse,
Though it was sad it made me smile.
Inheriting the family curse
When she had thoughts to reconcile.
Today my daughter made me cry
With lovely words for one she knew.
It’s far too hard to say goodbye
A poem lets you bid adieu.
Today my daughter made me glad
That she know life’s a precious gift.
However much we’re feeling sad
We cannot cast the rest adrift.
My daughter’s pleasure filled my head
She told me happiness can be
Nutella on banana bread
Warmed through and with a cup of tea!
