Too bad!

Too bad!

No ugly flecks of cotton wool to mar the pure azure
As breezes tease the trees where birds display
The golden light of summer’s height a universal cure
That wipes the grimy weather blues away

Short cotton skirts and sleeveless shirts informal uniform
For pretty girls relaxing in the sun
And everywhere a happy air greets days so clear and warm
So summer seems to be the source of fun

Too bad that work must interfere I’m stuck indoors today
And wishing I was rich enough to laze
It’s such a waste, a man of taste, without the time to play
When pretty girls enjoy these summer days
