Trouble Makers

True masters of the trouble-maker’s art,
Who make the sanest actions seem absurd.
One changes every rule before the start,
Another alters every second word.

A simple job made complex on a whim,
A gentle stroll through Himalayan peaks,
When they’re around the brightest prospect’s grim —
An afternoon turned into many weeks.

How do these men achieve their leading roles?
Who lets them keep their victims on their knees?
The recipe for darkening our souls —
Incompetence disguised as expertise.

If you don’t know the subjects of my rhyme
It must be you who perpetrates the crime!
