Twilight

In the misty evening moonlight when the sun has kissed goodbye
In the garden, trading kisses as the stars ignite the sky
We are lost in closed affections and we share a breathless sigh
In the twilight there is beauty and there’s love

As the darkness slowly settles on the world where lovers meet
There is romance and there’s magic and the stories seem complete
Where we lose ourselves in dreaming and in everything that’s sweet
All for twilight and for beauty and for love

As the daytime melts like music into night and love and hope
And the stars are stretched in garlands like a shining silken rope
I have you to fill my moments and I hope that I can cope
With the twilight where there’s beauty and there’s love

When your lips that taste of midnight meet my lips in ecstasy
And my fingers trace your contours in the spots I cannot see
I find I have lost my future to a flood of poetry
Words like twilight, lines of beauty verse of love

There is time before our parting for our love to greet the night
Just two lovers in a garden in a smooth declining light
Who are seeking sensual pleasures in the arms of love’s delight
Where the twilight sees your beauty and our love
