The arts

A picture fades as soon as it is dry
But words endure for ever and a day
A painting may be easy on the eye
But well wrought words can take your breath away
An artist struggles hard to set the scene
A masterpiece can set a heart on fire
But time will put an end to red and green
While words still hold the secrets of desire
A poet needs to know that deep inside
The best of man is captured by a word
From artist’s brush a secret thought may hide
But poets capture even the absurd
Da Vinci’s mind was deeper than the sea
Too bad he didn’t turn to poetry
