An Aussie one hasn’t a middle
And’s perfect for having a fiddle
The English allege
That theirs have no edge
Can one of you answer my riddle?
The slips and the keeper were busy
The bowling was wonderf’ly fizzy
The batting was horrid
The scoreline looks torrid
The man on the gate got quite dizzy
Then Andrew and Alistair’s turn
The Aussies all sat back to learn
We English kept counting
The score that was mounting
Let’s hope it’s a lead we can’t burn!
