The Bard (another attempt at the same villanelle)

You give me lots of laughter filled with tears,
By writing all you are upon the page;
Such poetry will last a thousand years.
Your words are sure to wipe away the fears,
That all of us must face upon this stage,
You give me lots of laughter filled with tears.
It’s right to shout when such a gift appears,
Your words describe all happiness and rage;
Such poetry will last a thousand years.
Your words provide a shield against the jeers
Of jealous fools whose barbs I can’t assuage
You give me lots of laughter filled with tears
A feeling I can’t find in all your peers.
You’ve given me the key that cracks the cage;
Such poetry will last a thousand years.
Inside your work the cloudy future clears –
A few new words that paint this modern age.
You give me lots of laughter filled with tears,
Such poetry will last a thousand years.

This poem http://allpoetry.com/poem/6241401 when it was still in my head,
flowed smoothly from line to line, but it refuses to on paper, this is another
attempt to get it right, but I don’t think it is any better.
