The brighter side

Who stands to gain from all this rain
From grey and dreary days
Who wants it wet then wetter yet
Why does it suit his ways
I’m off to see at half past three
A day night cricket game
The prospect’s bleak for play this week
But just who should I blame?
No thund’rous strokes from skilful blokes
If rain goes pitter pat
Just sit in stands with tea in hands
And lots of cricket chat
So why today must rain gods play
I’ll keep my fingers crossed
For clouds to ease and drying breeze
To see that all’s not lost
A day off work and chance to shirk
And there’s a brighter side
It’s quite good news my team won’t lose
If chance of play’s denied
