The Chicken and the Egg

They say that every poet is a dreamer
I say that every poet is the dream
When verse has taken passage on the steamer
The writer is the power in the steam

Our words are not mere echoes of existence
They coalesce as lifeforms of their own
We’re midwives charged with rendering assistance
To children who can not be born alone

And yet it seems that writing is my mother
It gives me life that I could never know
An ember that the World can never smother
The energy to feed an inner glow

I ask you as spectators of this sport
How can you tell the thinker from the thought

Author notes
I dunno!
