The Cricket Season!

When an April breeze starts blowing
We’ll have seen an end to snowing
And the cricket season’s almost on the way
I can feel my hackles itching
And my spinning finger’s twitching
Though I know I’ll hardly get a chance to play
There’ll be games to watch a plenty
Lazy first-class, Twenty-20
And the Ashes on their way to add their spice
Winter’s gone and Spring’s arriving
Bringing cutting, hooking, driving
You’re on the way? Hang-on! I don’t need asking twice
Let’s forget the World cup losses
Blame them all on ill-judged tosses
Now the real thing is near enough to smell
If your life needs extra reason
I present “The Cricket Season”
In the sunshine at the Oval all is well!

The end’s too weak I’ll probably revise it
