The enemy

Unfeeling time delights in causing pain
He takes his chance and steals your heart away.
The moment you relax against the strain
He finds a way to end the game you play.

Your lips were mine, in tender warm embrace,
Until he found the way to end the date.
I’m left to kiss the echo of your face,
While time decides his version of our fate.

He stole my years, he chose where you should be,
So far away in days as well as miles.
His evil schemes have kept you far from me,
The evidence is written in his files.

How can a man forgive this awful crime,
The enemy of love is heartless time.
