The energy we started with

The energy we started with can never disappear
But every day the entropy increases
For thirteen billion years or so our final fate’s been clear
A frozen waste of isolated pieces
All stars will die eventually and black-holes boil away
And there’ll be nothing left alive to see the final day
The energy we started with is all there’ll ever be
But maybe space and time will always grow
The interplay of forces that’s created all we see
Will one day bring an ending to the show
Neutrinos whizzing aimlessly through cold unfeatured waste
A ripple on a brane perhaps, now ripe to be replaced.
